Each year, the European Union celebrates its unity and enduring peace, commemorating the signing of the Schuman Declaration in 1950. From May 4-9, 2024, visitors were invited to join activities at European institutions in Brussels, Strasbourg, Luxembourg, and across Europe. This year's events celebrated democracy and highlighted amongst other the upcoming European Parliament election on June 9, 2024.

The Plastic Pirates were invited to showcase their initiative and engage with visitors in Brussels. The Lithuanian Plastic Pirates set up experiments with various specimens in Petri dishes, allowing kids, our "Mini Plastic Pirates," to use microscopes to identify microplastics. Interested visitors also participated in a quiz on plastic pollution, with those answering correctly receiving exciting prizes.
