Plastic Pirates General Assembly in Brussels – shaping the future of the initiative
Date of Publication:

On April 8 and 9, the Plastic Pirates crew gathered in Brussels for their – at least for now – final General Assembly, as the Horizon Europe project “Plastic Pirates – Go Europe!” officially ends in May 2025. Representatives from all over Europe met at the beautiful Hanse Office to exchange insights on key topics such as data analysis, verification, and management. At the heart of the discussions, however, was the future of the Plastic Pirates initiative. The crew explored the way forward, including a joint Memorandum of Understanding and the vision of a future Plastic Pirates network.

Of course, the end of the Horizon Europe project doesn’t mean the end of the Plastic Pirates. The initiative will continue their activities beyond May 2025: You may still reach out to your national coordination team for information, material, booklets, guidance and support with organizing a Plastic Pirates sampling. Get in touch with us via email or through our website. The Plastic Pirates will continue to combat plastic pollution with you!
