Lithuanian Centre of Non-formal Youth Education and Vilnius Žvėrynas gymnasium kicked off the “Plastic Pirates – Go Europe!” citizen science initiative in Lithuania on October 12, 2022. Opening speech for an event at school was started by Aušra Gribauskienė Chief Officer at Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, and by Almantas Kulbis Head of the Nature and Ecological Education Department of the Lithuanian Centre of Non-formal Youth Education. After introducing the project, guests together with 28 students joined the Plastic Pirates sampling at the Neris coast of Vilnius.
During this year 30 schools and youth groups will participate in the sampling campaign and more participants will join in 2023.
