Plastic Pirates Set Sail for Spring Samplings!

We’re excited to announce that the Plastic Pirates are getting ready to tackle the plastic pollution problem head-on in our Spring 2024 sampling period.

What Do the Plastic Pirates Do?

If you're new to our crew, let us fill you in. We're a passionate group of young volunteers spread across Europe, committed to making a difference in the fight against plastic pollution. Armed with our trusty data sheets and a determination to clean up, we set out to conduct samplings along rivers, waterways, and beaches.

Our process is rigorous: we meticulously sample for waste, plastic waste, and microplastic.

Why? Because these seemingly small actions have significant ripple effects. The data we gather is invaluable for scientists studying plastic pollution trends in Europe.

Samplings All Over Europe

From May to July 2024, our Plastic Pirates will be making waves all across the continent. We're talking Portugal, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Austria, Slovenia, Bulgaria, and France!

Our mission knows no borders. As we hit the riversides and shorelines, we'll be collecting data that helps piece together the plastic pollution puzzle. And by addressing this environmental challenge together, we're fostering a sense of responsibility and stewardship in young minds. Join us this spring as we embark on this exciting journey.
